Late Wednesday afternoon, a special train made its way to the Dupo Carshop via the Union Pacific tracks — the Union Pacific No. 4141 George Bush Locomotive.
It received extensive media coverage when it was used on Dec. 6 for Bush’s funeral train from Spring, Texas, to College Station, Texas. With the UP 1943 “Spirit of Union Pacific” behind, both locomotives will tour Union Pacific’s countrywide network in the coming months to give its employees and their families a chance to see them firsthand.
The company has the locomotive traveling the Union Pacific system to give its employees a chance to see the historic train.
Other locations the locomotive will visit on the tour include:
- Fort Worth, Texas
- Houston
- Kansas City, Mo.
- Los Angeles
- North Platte, Neb.
- Pine Bluff/North Little Rock, Ark.
- Ogden, Utah
- Portland, Ore.
- Roseville, Calif.
- St. Louis, Mo.
According to a Union Pacific manager, due to the holiday season, the engine will not be on display to the public in St. Louis, merely the employees.
