HOUSTON – A Missouri man alleges injuries he sustained while working were caused by a Harris County-based railroad operator’s failure to provide a safe work environment.
Troy W. Pritchard filed a complaint on May 3 in the Harris County District Court against Union Pacific Railroad Co. alleging negligence.
The suit states the plaintiff was working as a trackman at a road crossing on the defendant’s track in Oklahoma on July 24, 2016. The plaintiff alleges as he was trying to move a tie on the track when his back “popped” and he experienced tingling and numbness in his legs and hands. He alleges he incurred medical expenses because of the injury.
The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to provide a safe place to work and failed to furnish the proper tools needed for the job.
The plaintiff is seeking more than $1 million in monetary relief, costs of the suit and other relief deemed fit. The plaintiff is represented by Marc A. Zito in Houston.
