CSX freight action; Lead units 99, AC4400CW + 428, AC4400CW; Two trains meet at Hubbard Springs, Virginia. The train on the main (engine 99) is holding there to meet the other train (southbound), and yes, that’s the pusher units that have just passed my spot and are going into the siding. The conductor on the train led by engine 99 is lining the switch back to the main so his train can depart. The other train will let itself out the other end of the siding, and stop once in the clear to allow the conductor on the pusher to line the switch back to the main. Without signals or CTC, putting the loaded train into the siding is the most expedient way to handle the meet, since the loaded train has the luxury of having crew members on the rear to line switches back to normal behind the train.  Taken 29 June 2006, by Ron Flanary, and filed in People folder.
